Smile Dental Care Services Halted

Manx Care has confirmed that Smile Dental Care is currently not providing dental services on the island.

It is attempting to establish contact with the provider to understand the situation and restore services as quickly as possible.

In a statement, Manx Care acknowledged the disruption and apologised for the uncertainty caused to patients.

“We recognise that this situation will be concerning and inconvenient for patients, and sincerely apologise for the disruption and uncertainty it has caused,” the statement said.

“Work is taking place to clarify the position and restore local dental provision.”

Urgent & Emergency Care Still Available

Patients who require urgent or emergency dental treatment are being advised to contact 01624 642785.

An emergency dental rota continues to operate during weekends and bank holidays, with up‑to‑date details available at gov.im/dentists and via Manx Care’s social media channels.

Urgent dental conditions include:

  • severe dental pain
  • facial or oral swelling
  • uncontrolled bleeding
  • dental trauma

Manx Care has asked patients not to attend dental services without contacting the helpline first, as urgent care is delivered across multiple locations and access is arranged following assessment.

The health care provider said it will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available regarding Smile Dental Care and the steps being taken to stabilise local dental services.
