It appears Elon Musk’s Starlink is pulling some of its satellite infrastructure out of the island.
The company has operated a ground station as an uplink site at Carnane above Douglas since 2021.
The antenna equipment used at the site, which somewhat resemble big table tennis balls, has been removed and were this afternoon photographed by Manx.News at White Hoe.
Ireland
Being carried on Irish trailers, Manx.News understands that the equipment may be heading for a site in Ireland.
Industry experts have suggested that the reason could be the costs associated with operating here and connectivity charges which are are lower in the UK and Ireland.
We have approached Starlink for comment.
