Standard Bank colleagues on the Isle of Man joined forces to celebrate Africa Day, a significant occasion for the African-owned bank by donating books to local primary schools.
As part of the festivities at the Isle of Man office, a lively braai themed lunch (barbecue) was hosted at its Douglas headquarters.
This year, Standard Bank elevated its Africa Day celebrations by extending its impact within the local community.
The bank donated a selection of pre-loved books to 27 primary schools on the Island that have an African author or theme to their pages.

The purpose of this initiative is to not only share the wonderful vibrancy of the African continent with our Island’s young people, but to also share diverse and inclusive literature, a value that the bank upholds in its core behavioural practices.
Catherine Harrop, Employee Brand Specialist at Standard Bank Offshore, attended an assembly with local to office school, Scoill yn Jubilee juniors, to deliver the books and share why the bank, and wider world, celebrate Africa Day.
She said, “It was lovely to speak to the children and be able to share a small piece of our businesses’ rich African history. Our Island is so diverse and being able to create this small initiative that promotes that to the next generation is great to do.”
