Ramey Fire Station has bid farewell to Station Officer Chris Blatcher as he retired after nearly 32 years of loyal and dedicated service.
Chris joined the Isle of Man Fire & Rescue Service in December 1994 and achieved his first promotion in 1998, before eventually becoming Officer in Charge at Ramsey in 2018.
The Service said: “Throughout his career, Chris consistently went above and beyond in providing essential on-call cover, while his operational knowledge and experience played a significant role in developing generations of firefighters at Ramsey.”
During his service, Chris has been awarded both the 20 and 30 Year Long Service and Good Conduct awards, in recognition of his commitment and dedication.
Last night provided an opportunity for colleagues, and members of Chris’ family to come together and thank him for his exceptional service.
Chief Fire Officer Mark Christian led the farewell and paid tribute to Chris’s career, describing him as “an outstanding public servant who has left a lasting legacy at Ramsey Fire Station”.
He also wished Chris and his family all the very best for the future.
