Ramsey RNLI is marking a milestone birthday and a significant change for one of its longest-serving members this week.
Martin Packard, a popular volunteer, has stepped back from operational duties following his recent birthday having first joined the Ramsey team in 2001.
Initially a Deputy Launch Authority, Martin became a driver for the lifeboat’s Talus tractor in 2004.
He then transitioned to driver and Head Launcher for the station’s new Shannon-class lifeboat and SLARS system in 2022.
The station added, “We wish Martin all the very best and although he will not be operationally involved we are sure he will be around to drink tea and chat for many more years to come.”
