DEFA is asking people to stay out of glens that are still shut following recent storm damage.
Whilst the majority of our glen are open a few remain closed following the storms including Molly Quirk’s Glen and lower Silverdale Glen
The department made the decision to close these sites in the interest of public safety and for different reasons such as undermined paths, fallen trees blocking access and land slips.
It said: “While some pathways may appear safe to walk, hidden dangers may still exist such as hung-up branches and limbs of trees which could fall from height at any time causing serious injury.
“The Department is asking members of the public to respect its closures and not to pass fenced-off areas. Thank you for your co-operation.
“We hope to have both glens partially open in the coming weeks and will provide further details as soon as we can.”
