Training will be available to help the infrastructure industry meet requirements for all Highways contractors to be trained in Streetworks by the end of 2024.
McCrae Training has been working with Construction IOM to bring the full range of accredited Streetworks training to the Isle of Man.
Before McCrae Training, no single provider could deliver all the required Streetworks training provisions locally.
Streetworks Training
The training focuses on the skills needed to carry out roadworks safely and efficiently.
This includes understanding regulations, using the correct equipment, implementing traffic management plans and working safely on the highway.
The training ensures that roadworks are conducted with minimal disruption to the public and maximum safety for the workers involved.
Properly trained contractors help maintain the island’s infrastructure, vital for everyday life and economic activity.
Qualification
McCrae identified the lack of availability of the full streetworks training for utility, civil and groundwork companies and this coupled with the requirement for all contractors carrying out work on the highway needing to be qualified, allowed McCrae to bring its industry-leading courses directly to the island.
The on-island training hopes to save companies the time, trouble and expense of having to go off the island to up-skill.
