Visiting Biker Fined

A visitor to the TT who was caught doing almost double the speed limit has been fined.

Thomas Littlefair, 25, of Preston submitted his guilty plea by post.

Prosecutor Hazel Caroon said that just after 6pm on June 3 Littlefair was riding his motorcycle towards Ramsey Hairpin where police were conducting speed tests.

He was recorded as riding at 58mph in what is a 30mph zone and stopped by police.

In his letter to the court he admitted the offence and apologised.

Littlefair said it was the first time he had ridden his bike on the island and he believed that the de-restricted zone began at the entrance to the one-way system over the Mountain during TT.

He was fined £377 and ordered to pay £50 in costs.

Littlefair’s licence has also been endorsed with nine penalty points, however as he has not been banned, this will not apply to his UK licence.
