Ramsey’s swing bridge will be open again to vehicles as well as pedestrians from this afternoon.
The bridge had been closed because part of the asphalt failed, leading to water penetration resulting in rot in a number of the timber decking members.
Following the discovery of this in January the bridge was closed to vehicular traffic for safety reasons, however it remained open at all times to pedestrians and cyclists.
The Department of Infrastructure has shut down rumours that the bridge would be closed to vehicles permanently.
It said: “We are pleased to report that’s not the case.”
