The Health Minister has been challenged over figures given to Tynwald about patient/GP ratios.
Claire Christian was speaking as members asked about GP access and appointments across the island.
Ms Christian told members that the current average is 1,998 patients per GP.
However, as previously reported by Manx.News, the most recent Isle of Man in Numbers report said, using figures from Manx Care, that the figure is much higher.
That report showed that in 2024, the island had the fewest GPs it has had at any point since 2012 and has an average of 2,689 patients per GP.
Challenge
The figures were challenged in Tynwald by MHKs who also cited that Isle of Man in Numbers report.
Rob Callister said: “It clearly says 33.2 GPS on the island, and the number of patients on the list is 89,262 and the average number per GP is 2689.”
He later added, “I don’t believe the facts and figures she’s given us today is correct.”
Ms Christian gave a commitment to check the figures with Manx Care and report back to members.
