A Garff commissioner says people thinking of joining a local authority will need to develop a ‘thick skin’ and face criticism about decisions which have been made.
Melanie Christian also believes finding a balance between working full time and family commitments is important.
Local Authority Elections are being held in April across the Island and are an opportunity for people to have their say about what happens in their community.
Mrs Christian says despite the possible negatives more people should put themselves forward for the role.
