If you’re camping this evening, you may want to check the ties on your tent and prepare to anchor them down.
The weather gods clearly feel they haven’t enraged visitors and locals alike with the lack of sunshine, they’re now bringing gales!
Much of today will be fine and sunny, although southerly winds will increase to become strong later and cloud will increase through the evening.
Maximum temperature 14°C, then around 10 or 11pm heavy rain will arrive as the winds reach gale force in places with gusts around 50mph.
Tie Them Down
The gales have resulted in a yellow weather warning which reads:
“A period of windy weather will occur late Monday/ early Tuesday, with southerly winds increasing to give gusts of around 45-50 mph in many areas, with isolated gusts 50-55 mph. Strongest winds will be around midnight, with a significant decrease after 2 or 3 am. Rain will be heavy for a few hours too.
Whilst not unprecedented (several gales have occurred during TT in last 30 years), winds of this strength are unusual at this time of year and some damage/disruption is possible to outdoor temporary infrastructure (tents, marquees etc.). Precautionary action is advised where possible.”
Campers are advised to take precautions ahead of these winds, before during the early hours of tomorrow morning the rain clears and winds ease.
