Bus Vannin drivers will resume work tomorrow, but Unite the Union has urged the DoI to use the three-day window before fresh strike action to enter immediate negotiations.
The union told Manx.News its members are ready to begin talks without delay, saying a serious proposal from the department could resolve the ongoing dispute over pay.
“The last offer reduced the previously discussed £16.88 rate to £16.84 per hour and replaced proper consolidated pay with a £1,000 non-pensionable payment for full-time staff,” Unite said.
“Part-time drivers receive less. Casual drivers receive nothing. The two-tier structure remains.”
Drivers are currently working between 40 and 45 hours a week with the union saying the dispute is about establishing a fair system for all drivers.
“This dispute is about fair, consolidated and pensionable pay and about creating a harmonious, transparent system that treats all drivers equally,” the union said. “That is something our members feel strongly about.”
Unite confirmed it is ready to meet immediately, adding: “The department now has the opportunity to resolve this.”
