Clara Issac finished in an incredible third place in Italy’s Ironman 70.3.
The Iroman 70.3 Emigilia Romagna in Italy was a half Ironman distance with a 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run.
Competing against a field of 2,100 people, the Manxwoman finished tenth overall, and third in her age group.
Strong Finish
Issac was 75th overall after the swim, however following a strong bike and run she pushed her way into 10th position.
Speaking to Manx.News, Clara said: “The sea was choppy, the bike had a sizeable climb, and the run was hot.
“It was uncharacteristically hot on the day, with lows of 26 degrees and highs of 32, which made for a very difficult race.
“This is my second year in triathlon and only my third event at this distance, coming top 10 in both of my half Ironman events this year, along with bronze at the island games and winning the Isle of Man Championships for the second year in a row, it’s been a great year!
“Looking forward to having more of a crack at this distance next year.”
