Sixty-five topless pastel pretties from the Figaro Owners Club will come to the Isle of Man for the Festival of Motoring this autumn.
Running from September 18 to 21, this year’s festival theme ‘The Isle of Man Goes Topless’ is perfect for the little convertibles which never fail to raise a smile.
The event has attracted 64 Figaro owners from as far as Germany, Luxemburg, Holland and Belgium to travel to the island together.
Topless Classics
Only 20,000 Figaro’s were ever manufactured by Nissan, but only in Japan, in 1991.
In line with their branding theme celebrating ‘Back to the Future’, they were the first cars to have a CD player as standard and were luxuriously equipped with electric windows, automatic gearbox, cream leather seats, air conditioning, a folding roof – and bags of style.
There was such a demand for them that a lottery was held, so only those lucky enough to get a winning ticket could purchase the cars.
Festival of Motoring
The Isle of Man Festival of Motoring events provides plenty of opportunities to catch up with the cars, notably:
- Thursday (September 18) afternoon at Peel Castle;
- Friday (September 19) at Sloc or Jurby;
- The seafront in Douglas on Saturday (September 20);
- The TT Grandstand on Sunday (September 21).
Figaro Owner’s Club founder Kevin Fagan said: “We’re used to people stopping to wave and smile when they see our rallies as they are so colourful and I’m hoping that our club members will get a real Manx welcome here with lots of waving as we pass by.
“When we’re parked up we’re always happy to show people round our cars on display and they’re usually a real hit with the kids.”
