After a truly exceptional year, Christa Cain proved that she is human after all with a below-par run by her incredibly high standards in Valencia Marathon.
Going into the race having had a slight injury concern the previous week, Christa started well, but she realised before half-distance that it was not going to be her day.
In her own words, she ‘pulled the plug’ at 19km, but was still determined to battle through to complete the race and earn another shiny medal.
Still a Legend
She backed right off, yet still finished in a very good time of 2:46:30, especially as conditions were unexpectedly warm.
Christa’s achievements during 2025 have been phenomenal, and she now plans to have some well-deserved downtime before setting her sights on another big year in 2026.
Also competing in Valencia was Christa’s partner Simon Scott, who produced a commendable performance to clock a time of 3:43:51.
That was only 27 seconds shy of the time he ran in Chicago in October, despite struggling with injury niggles in the weeks since.
