Unsafe squishy toys seized from a Douglas shop have prompted a warning to parents from the Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading.
Eighty‑one toys, including squishy dumplings and other fidget items, were taken off sale after inspectors found they didn’t meet basic safety standards.
Officers flagged choking risks, missing age warnings, chemical concerns and labelling problems, with some products also carrying trademark‑infringing images.
The OFT says parents should check packaging closely. Genuine toys will name a UK or EU‑based supplier or importer, and carry CE or UKCA markings along with age warnings and instructions.
Tim Glover MHK, OFT chair, said the toys “may look harmless, but if they haven’t been made to the right standards they can pose a real risk to children”. He urged families to remove any suspect items.
