One of the island’s steam engines had been adorned with a wreath to mark the passing of one of volunteer Mike Buttell.
Mike Buttell, former employee on the railway and later volunteer with the heritage events, died earlier this week.
The wreath has put in place by his Mike’s friend and fellow volunteer Graeme Easton.
The wreath was designed by The Flower Studio by Heidi Baker and was placed on Kissack’s funnel earlier today.
The Port Erin business said: “We were honoured to create a wreath to adorn No.13 Kissack Engine today, in tribute to one of the Isle of Man Railways dedicated volunteers Mike Buttell, who passed away yesterday. Sending our condolences to his family and wide circle of friends who knew him and had worked with him.”
Since Mike’s death, tributes have been paid from across the heritage railway community, both on and off island, with people sharing their memories of Mike and extending their condolences to his family and friends.
Isle of Man Transport added its own tribute, saying: “You were a dedicated member of the Heritage Railway Volunteer team who support the Isle of Man Railways.
“We will greatly miss your energy, passion and love for the railways. Our deepest sympathies go out to Mike’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
