Tree planting event this weekend

The Woodland Trust is inviting islanders to join in with a tree planting event at St Marks this weekend.

About 300 Manx native trees of at least ten different species are waiting to be planted.

The site is former sheep pasture with short grass and easy to plant on and the trees are ideal for biodiversity, providing food for insects, birds and other creatures throughout nature’s food chain.

The plantings tend to last two to three hours and there will be coffee and tea afterwards. The planting site is remote so, similar to a hiking trip, toilet access is not provided.
