The 1886 Super Sprint Tri relay took place on Sunday (July 21), drawing teams of three athletes working together to each complete a condensed triathlon.
The super sprint tri consisted of a 400m swim, 6.6km cycle, and 2.2km run before handing over to team mates.
This was the first event of its kind on the Isle of Man, as triathletes of all ages and skill levels gathered at Mooragh Park in Ramsey to compete.
Shortened Format
The shortened format was a perfect introduction to triathlon, with a good amount of first timers having a go of the sport.
Thankfully the weather conditions were favourable, and the race kicked off with a swim in the Mooragh lake, followed by a fast and flat cycle up and down the promenade on closed roads, and culminated with a run around the outside of the lake.
Amongst the standout performances of the day, was the overall winner ‘Tri catch us if you can’, who battled it out with team ‘Giving it a Tri’ to eventually take the lead by a fraction of a second after a time penalty.
Both teams were an impressive seven minutes ahead of third place.

The next Manx Tri Club event will be held on September 8 the Isle of Man Triathlon championships, which includes races for Olympic distance, Sprint distance, and Teams.
