Isle of Man Swimming has paid tribute to Southern Swimming Club coach, Ian Harrop.
The club shared the news that Ian passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 27.
In its tribute, the organisation said: “He dedicated so many years of his life to Southern Swimming Club, our pool, our swimmers, and our community and were all the better for it.

Isle of Man Swimming added: “Generations of young people were shaped by Ian’s guidance, encouragement, and quiet belief in their potential.
“He gave so much of himself — not just as a coach, but as a mentor, a steady presence, and a true friend to the Club. His impact lives on in the countless swimmers whose lives he touched.
“Ian loved Southern, and Southern loved him right back. We will miss him deeply. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very sad time. We will share further details in due course for those who wish to pay their respects. Rest in peace, Ian — and thank you for everything.”
