Douglas RNLI has announced the death of volunteer Mickey Cain, describing him as a much‑loved friend and a highly respected member of the station team.
Cain joined Douglas RNLI in early 2021 as Station Treasurer, a role that suited him well as an experienced accountant and a lifelong friend to many of the volunteers.
He quickly became a valued part of station life, known for his organisation, his humour and the warmth he brought to the committee.
Despite recent ill health, he was determined to attend the station’s TT week barbecue, where he enjoyed a glass of red wine, a burger and time with friends.
Outside the RNLI, Cain was a keen footballer who played for Union Mills in his younger years and continued to show pace at veteran level. He also loved skiing and spent many winter months on the slopes.
Douglas RNLI said he will be “deeply missed” by volunteers and by many across the wider community. The station extended its condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.
