A first-time visitor to the TT has been fined £750 for speeding on the approach to Ramsey Hairpin.
Daniel Mark Richardson, 32, from Clifton, Bristol, pleaded guilty by post.
Prosecutor Sara-Jayne Dodge told the court that on June 5, Richardson was riding his BMW motorbike towards Ramsey Hairpin when he was clocked doing 58mph.
That section of the road is limited to 30mph.
When stopped by officers, he told them: “I thought the no speed zone had started down there, I’m sorry.”
In his confession to the court, Richardson again apologised and said he had mistakenly thought the no-limit section began when the road was one-way.
He was fined £378 and ordered to pay £50 costs, which he offered to pay at a rate of £100 per week.
His licence was also docked with eight points.
