Two new additions to KWC and Buchan Board of Governors

King William’s College (KWC) and The Buchan School has announced the recent addition of Jon McGowan and Henrietta Hammonds to its Board of Governors.

The school hopes that these appointments will ‘enrich the governance structure and contribute significantly to the School’s continued growth and success’.

New appointments

Jon McGowan, a distinguished alumnus of KWC, brings a wealth of entrepreneurial and leadership experience to the Board.

As Group Chief Executive Officer at MAC Group, Jon has demonstrated remarkable vision and strategic acumen, propelling MAC Financial to become the largest Independent Financial Advisor on the Isle of Man.

His dynamic career includes significant achievements, such as leading a management buyout of Aon’s pensions business and launching successful ventures under the MAC Group brand.

Jon’s leadership prowess is further evidenced by his tenure as the youngest president of the Chartered Management Institute’s Isle of Man Branch and his role as a Non-Executive Director on various prominent company boards.

Alumnus of KWC

Henrietta Hammonds, also an alumna of King William’s College, has significant experience in the field of surveying and property management.

Currently serving as a Partner at Beckett and Kay, Chartered Surveyors in London, Henrietta’s journey began with a Master of Arts with Honours degree in International Relations from the University of St Andrews.

Since then, she has earned notable accolades, including becoming the youngest female Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in 2020. She is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Member of the Property Institute.

Chairman of Governors Peter Clucas said: “We are thrilled to welcome Henrietta and Jon to our Board of Governors.

“Their exceptional backgrounds and unwavering commitment to good governance align perfectly with our School’s values.

“We eagerly anticipate the invaluable contributions they will make as we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of education and governance.

“As King William’s College and The Buchan School look forward to transforming its future by innovation and progress, the addition of Henrietta and Jon heralds a new chapter of success for our School.”
