Two Isle of Man Constabulary officers have been dismissed without notice following Special Case Misconduct Hearings held after their convictions at Douglas Courthouse on August 18 for offences under the Computer Security Act.
The hearings were arranged and concluded within 21 and 22 days, and after reviewing the evidence, both officers were found to have breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour.
Superintendent Dave Dobbie of the Professional Standards Department said the outcome “demonstrates the Constabulary’s commitment to dealing with allegations of misconduct promptly, fairly and transparently, whilst ensuring due process is followed throughout”.
The Constabulary said it is committed to maintaining public confidence and ensuring all officers and staff uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and conduct.
It stated that officers who breach those standards “undermine the trust placed in them by the public and their colleagues. Such conduct will not be tolerated.”
The Chief Constable expects the highest standards from officers both on and off duty, and the organisation said it will take “robust and appropriate action” where those standards are not met, to ensure accountability and maintain confidence in policing.
The Constabulary added that it remains committed to upholding the values of “honesty, integrity and professionalism” expected by the public.
