Prospect Union is calling for an immediate payment of 4% and associated arrears of pay, for Public Sector Workers.
This is the result of a recent ballot of its members in respect of the pay offer made by the PSC covering the period 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2026.
It comes after the Joint Unions who represent PSC employees received a revised two year pay offer.
Negotiations
The offer comprised of 4% effective 2024/2025, 2.5% effective 2025/2026 with an additional one off £200 non-consolidated payment to be made pro-rata to hours worked.
Members of Prospect Trade Union accepted the offer made.
Payment Wanted
Mick Hewer, Prospect Negotiations Officer said: “I am calling on the Public Services Commission to immediately pay all Public Sector workers employed by them (the PSC) 4% backdated to 1st April 2024.
“This would go a significant way to restoring the significant damage and ill feeling being expressed to me from our members with regards to how they feel let down by any lack of real progress with regards negotiations and ultimate settlement, together with a feeling that the PSC don’t want any early settlement’.
“Many long serving employees have already lost out because they have retired or changed employer.
“Some of our members have left employment through illness and they have also suffered a detriment, they have lost out on the benefits of any settlement reached because ‘Leavers’ are excluded from receiving any backpay because of the position being taken by the employer as part of the offer made’.

“I can see no legitimate reason to not pay the 4% and associated back pay immediately and without prejudice.
“Precedent has already been set in this regard when Manx Care implemented the 2023/2024 pay offer at that time without prejudice to ongoing negotiations within their collective bargaining forum.
“They (Manx Care) have also just paid 4% for 2024/2025, again without prejudice, whilst negotiations are continuing.”
