Sixteen vehicles were stopped and examined during a joint operation by the Roads Policing Unit and its partners last night.
The operation, part of ‘Operation Uplift’, was conducted at Dhoon School with officers from Isle of Man Customs and Excise and the Vehicle Testing Centre.
Eleven of the 16 vehicles were found with at least one defect. Vehicle Defect Rectification Notices were issued for faulty brake, tail and sidelights, worn tyres, and cracked or missing wing mirrors.
Another vehicle, while defect-free, was seized after it was discovered it had not been taxed since January. The driver also failed a drug wipe and was arrested.
A Roads Policing Unit spokesperson said:”Only four vehicles stopped tonight had no issues, and none of them were obvious headlights – do your checks and make sure you and your vehicle are fit for the road!”
