Approximately 91 new homes are due to be created in urban areas in this financial year, according to the government.
The figure was confirmed by the Minister for the Cabinet Office David Ashford.
Mr Ashford said that the “new dwellings will be created through conversions and windfall opportunities within the existing urban areas”.
He clarified this is a net figure, noting some units may be lost to demolition or other uses.
However, Mr Ashford also reported that the government holds no expected figure for the number of vacant properties that will be recorded at the next census.
