The Job Centre cannot guarantee it prevents the same job vacancy being listed multiple times on its service, Treasury Minister Dr Alex Allinson has said.
The issue was raised in Tynwald Speaker Juan Watterson, who asked how the centre ensures against duplication in its reported vacancies.
In a written answer, Dr Allinson said it was “very difficult” to achieve this, citing a specific problem. A vacancy might be registered by both a direct employer and a recruitment agency working on their behalf.
“If common or generic terms are provided to the Job Centre when registering the vacancy – such as ‘administrator’ or ‘labourer’, and ‘salary TBC’ – and the employment agency does not specify to whom or which organisation the vacancy relates, it would not be possible for the staff of the Job Centre to identify the duplication,” he said.
