Vagabonds Rugby Club is “bursting with pride” after four of its ladies players finished their season with Cheshire County.
Becka Hicks, Leona McGovern, Maylyn Campbell, and Maisie Murray played for Cheshire in its final game against LND at the weekend in a losing effort, going down 37-12.
Vagabonds said that while this was “not a win on paper” it was a “huge step up from the week before, and proof that these girls left absolutely everything on the pitch”.
Reflecting on the challenges, it added: “After week after week of ferry rides, overnight boats, dodgy train snacks and not nearly enough sleep, the girls are officially knackered.
“But they’re also buzzing (and a bit heartbroken) that their time with Cheshire has come to an end.”

The club praised the players’ development, saying: “They’ve thrived. They’ve grown. Along the way, they’ve also made some brilliant friends from other teams – and we can’t wait to hopefully welcome a few of them to our shores when our season kicks off in September!”

Next Season
Vagas know they will welcome some new sides to Ballafletcher next season with one club, Didsbury, saying the trip to the island “in particular has caught the girls’ attention”.
