The owners of The Shed in Laxey have criticised how a road closure was communicated which shut their business for the rest of the day.
The DoI shut Laxey Promenade following a high tide amid an amber weather warning.
However, the business stated it received no official notification.
“The Isle of Man Department of Infrastructure have failed yet again to advise us that this was happening – and we have had to find out from FB,” a post read.
The owners acknowledged safety needs but criticised the process and said their end of the promenade is unaffected.
“We understand why closures need to happen but the lack of clear communication around when it’s closing, for how long, whether it’s accessible to pedestrians, and when it’s planned to re-open is NO GOOD for business.”
They added: “Running a small business is particularly tough at the moment, not to mention during an exceptionally tough winter.”
