Veteran Racer Dies Following Incident at Jurby Test Day

Andreas Racing Association has announced the passing of Ed Poole, who died following an incident during the ACU test day at Jurby Race Circuit on April 11.

The 79-year-old veteran racer, of Rhencullen, began his Mountain Course career in 1994, spanning more than 25 years across the Manx Grand Prix, Isle of Man TT, and Classic TT.

Among his many achievements, he secured a standout fifth-place finish in the 2000 Singles TT, cementing his reputation as a skilled and respected competitor.

In a statement, the Andreas Racing Association described Poole as a valued member of the paddock whose presence and experience enriched the sport for decades.

“He will be greatly missed,” the association said, adding that the loss will be “deeply felt across the racing community.”

The organisation extended its condolences to Poole’s wife, Sheila, his family, and all who knew him, and asked that the family’s privacy be respected as they come to terms with their loss. They also expressed gratitude for the messages of support received in recent days.
