Do you fancy being unemployed in a little under two years’ time? Then the Chief Minister wants to hear from you.
Only available to members of Tynwald, the role is that of being the person to blame for Manx Care and your neighbour’s gran not getting her new knee.
Candidates must be willing to vote for a budget that you then will denounce very publicly, while being blamed for all the literally ills of the great unwashed.
You must also be willing to face questions on a range of things you aren’t actually responsible for anymore, all while pretending that Manx Care is still a good idea.
This is a fixed term role, ending about 11:30pm on Thursday September 25 2026, once your constituents tell you where to go.
However, in exchange for all this, you will be rewarded with your basic salary of £75, 906 (plus an increase once the PSC pay deal is agreed), as well as 15% on top.
Plus, you will be called minister and, that’s about it really.
You can apply by slipping your name into the box outside the Chief Minister’s office.
However, please can we refrain from the childish behaviour we saw last time with joke candidates being put forward, we don’t want to see any Tim Crookedballs, Kate Lord-Voldemorts or Rob Callisters (sorry Rob).
