Rob Slinger, a Level 4 referee and former goalkeeper in Manx football, has shared insights into his journey from player to match official.
Officiating in the North West Counties Football League and Northern Premier League, Slinger highlighted the transition’s difficulties.
However, despite that, he said the move from playing to officiating has been highly rewarding and offered him opportunities he hadn’t ever thought of.
Praising mentors like Paul Hodgkinson and Peter Greenhill for their support, Slinger encouraged anyone interested in taking up officiating to sign up with the island’s FA and grasp every opportunity that comes their way.
