Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson has thanked islanders, riders, officials and marshals for their patience as weather plays havoc with the racing schedule.
Thompson thanked the public for their “patience, your resilience” and confirmed a flexible approach is needed.
“Obviously, I’m trying to keep roads as open as long as possible to minimise the disruption to the public. I also want to say thank you to the competitors, to all the officials, to all the marshals.”
Detailing the revised plan, he said: “The plan at the moment, is provided the roads dry on time, is for the roads to close at one o’clock, for the classic Junior race to take place at two o’clock.”
Looking ahead, Thompson added: “Tomorrow is looking, not looking, not good, really. So tomorrow is a contingency day, but I can’t really see us getting much in at the moment tomorrow.”
He confirmed the intention is to reschedule races for Friday.
“We will keep you updated as we go along. But again, I just want to thank everybody for your patience, resilience, and once the weather clears, I think we’ve got a great schedule for today.”
