Castletown resident Jeroen Wats has announced his intention in this year’s General Election for the constituency of Arbory, Castletown and Malew.
Mr Wats, who has lived in Castletown for many years, is known locally for his involvement in business, community activities, sailing and public speaking.
“Today, I am pleased to announce my intention to stand as a candidate in the 2026 House of Keys General Election for Arbory, Castletown and Malew,” he said.
“I have lived in Castletown for many years and many of you already know me through business, community activities, sailing, public speaking and simply through being part of everyday life on our island.”
Economy
His campaign priorities include supporting a strong local economy, ensuring a sustainable and affordable energy future, encouraging sport and wellbeing, and protecting the qualities that make the community special.
Mr Wats promised a highly accessible approach if formally confirmed as a candidate.
“For that reason, if my candidacy is formally confirmed, I intend to hold an open public meeting every two weeks where residents can ask questions, share ideas, raise concerns and discuss the issues that matter most to them.”
He added: “I believe effective representation starts with being visible, accessible and engaged with the people we serve. Politics works best when it is connected to our towns, villages, sports clubs, businesses and community organisations.”
Mr Wats said he will share more priorities in the coming months and look forward to listening to residents.
Mark Firth and Kirrie Jenkins have also so far declared their intention to stand in Arbory, Castletown and Malew.
Sitting MHKs Tim Glover and Jason Moorhouse have yet to declare their intentions regarding re-election.
