Wayne’s 26 Years of Service Celebrated

Ramsey Lifeboat Station has celebrated Wayne Hargrave’s over a quarter of a century of volunteer service.

Having joined in 1999, he has served by helping save lives at sea and now works as part of the shore crew.

In recognition of the dedication which he has given to the station in his various roles, Wayne has been presented with an RNLI Excellence in Volunteering Award and is seen here receiving his award from Coxswain Mark Kenyon.

The station said that Wayne is someone who “routinely goes ‘over and above’ in order to ensure that we continue to deliver our services to the highest quality”.

It added: “Wayne joined us at Ramsey in 1999 as ALB crew progressing to Navigator and ultimately Deputy Second Coxswain. He remained in that position until eventually coming ashore to become a tractor driver and launching authority.

“As well as his current positions as Launching authority, Head launcher and SLARS driver, Wayne has carried the responsibilities of station training coordinator since 2010 and it is in this role that he has become a core part of the station’s management team.”
