What Are The Top 10 Achievements of Children’s Services?

The DHSC has outlined what it sees as the top 10 achievements of Children’s Services between April 2024 and March 2025.

This has included progress in mental health, maternity care, and paediatric services.

Responding to a written question from Onchan MHK Julie Edge, Minister Claire Christian emphasised improvements in mental health support, including a £3.9 million investment to transform CAMHS.

She said: “The aim being to reduce routine assessment wait times from 48 to 18 weeks, with a goal of just six weeks.”

The funding will expand early intervention services, with £3.4 million allocated to implement the THRIVE model.

Talk

A new ‘Talk’ service has also been introduced, providing a single point of access for young people.

Manx Care now has “six dedicated Wellbeing Practitioners in place at all the island’s secondary schools and extends this school-based support to the Isle of Man College.”

In maternity care, the Bluebell Suite at Noble’s Hospital offers a “sanctuary designed to offer privacy, compassion, comfort and care” for families experiencing baby loss.

Meanwhile, the Family Placement Service received praise for being “safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led.”

Other listed successes include digital paediatric early warning systems, telemetry monitors, and a specialist blood clinic.
