Where’s Getting Gritted?

The DoI has confirmed what areas it will be gritting this evening, as temperatures are again due to fall below freezing.

As a result, there will be several slow moving gritters operating across the island tonight.

The department said it will be gritting the bus routes in and around Douglas and Onchan, including Pulrose, Anagh Coar, Willaston, including Greenfield Road, Birch Hill, including access to Ashley Hill School and Windermere Drive.

It said: “In addition to these pre-planned routes, our standby teams are responding to reports of issues at several locations in and around Douglas.

“The weather forecast predicts sub zero temperatures overnight. Many road surfaces are wet and are likely to freeze.

“While the application of road salt tends to depress the freezing point of water, it will not completely remove the risk of icy conditions.”
