A family-run food wholesaler that has served the island for more than five decades is to close next month.
K.C. Foods Limited, which was established in 1971, announced the decision in a letter to customers on Friday.
Managing Director Amanda Bowie cited a combination of rising costs and changes to the local marketplace as the reasons for the closure.
“Due to continued increases in business costs, rates, utilities, wages, freight etc. Combined with supplier minimum orders increases & ever-changing marketplace on the Island we have made the hard decision to close the business,” Ms Bowie wrote.
The company, which began as a local family-run operation, has supplied goods to businesses across the island for 55 years.
Ms Bowie confirmed that the company’s final day of trading will be Friday, April 24.
“We have tried to give you as much notice to allow for continued supply of goods,” she said.
“We will keep you informed of stock availability during this time and appreciate your continued support during this transition.”
The closure represents the loss of a long-standing Manx business, with Ms Bowie wishing customers “all the best for the future”.
