Minister for the Cabinet Office, David Ashford, has amended the motion for the Area Plan for the North and West, removing a specific reference to masterplans and development briefs.
The change follows the minister’s reflection and feedback from other members of Tynwald.
The original motion had highlighted these tools for significant sites, but the amended motion now refers solely to the approval of the Area Plan Order itself.
In his answer to a question from Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper, Mr Ashford clarified the purpose of the initial wording.
He said: “The original motion for the Area Plan for the North and West included a reference to development briefs and masterplans to emphasise their importance for significant sites.
“In so doing, the motion highlighted that both elements are integral to delivering coordinated, high-quality development.”
No Change
The minister said that the plan’s content remains unchanged.
He added: “This does not affect the content of the plan or the role of development briefs and masterplans, which remain embedded in the plan.
“It was not necessary to reinforce in the motion, what is already clear in the plan.”
The amended motion for the strategic planning document is now set for debate later this month.
