Works near Barregarrow planned to be completed by tomorrow

The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) drainage works just south of Barregarrow crossroads, Michael on the A3 Ramsey to Castletown Road.

Repairs have been made to the existing surface water drainage system.

In addition a new French drain has been installed on the back of the roadside footway for an extended distance.

This has been designed to deal with run off from the high sod bank that runs along the southbound carriageway.

It is anticipated that this will significantly reduce the water lying on the carriageway thereabouts and this will reduce the threat of this section of road icing up in winter.

The pavement surface had to be excavated in order to install the new French drain. This was subsequently resurfaced and re-kerbed where necessary.

The DOI anticipates that all works will be complete and the site stood down by midday tomorrow (March 23).
