Manx equestrian star, Yasmin Ingham has been selected as one of four riders to represent Great Britain at next months Paris Olympic Games.
It was announced today that the 27-year-old reigning Eventing World Champion and her championship winning mount, Banzai Du Loir, will be part of the British team.
The four riders selected to represent Team GB are as follows (listed alphabetically): (Pictures from Team GB)
- Rosalind Canter (38) riding Lordships Graffalo. They are the current European Champions having won team and individual gold at last year’s European Championships in Haras Du Pin, France. They also won Badminton Horse Trials in 2023. Ros is a former World Champion, having won individual gold in 2018.
. - Laura Collett (34) riding London 52. The combination are the only horse and rider duo who were also part of the Gold Medal winning team from the Tokyo Olympics 2020, and were part of last years European Gold medal winning team.
. - Yasmin Ingham (27) riding Banzai Du Loir. Reigning World Champions from 2022, they are also reigning Aachen Champions, being the first British rider to win that event. Their recent form includes 3rd at this years Defender Kentucky Horse Trials in April, and winners of the 4* Short in Luhmuhlen, Germany just 2 weeks ago. They too were also part of the gold medal winning team at last years European Championships.
. - Tom McEwen (33) riding JL Dublin. Tom was part of the Gold Medal winning team from Toyko 2020 where he also took home individual silver on his former ride, Toledo De Kerser. Tom & ‘Dubs’ have recently finished 2nd at both Kentucky in the spring and Luhmuhlen two weeks ago, behind Ingham.
Paris Olympics
Only three of the riders will get to start the event.
Those three will not be announced until the horses and riders have all arrived in Paris next month.
The fourth person then becomes a substitute reserve should they be needed.
The eventing will start on July 27 with dressage, followed by cross country on the Sunday (July 28) and then two rounds of show jumping on Monday (July 29).
The first round counts towards the team medals, whilst the second round (all scores are carried forward) will decide who becomes the 2024 Olympic Champion.
