Code Club Isle of Man brought a successful conclusion to the island’s first-ever Robotics Competition last month.
The event brought together young people aged 11–15 from across the island to put their problem-solving and programming skills to the test in a contest of robotics ingenuity.
The atmosphere was electric as teams navigated a series of challenges with their LEGO SPIKE robots—demonstrating not only technical skill but teamwork, creativity, and resilience.
The theme this year involved tackling tasks on the surface of Mars, providing a future context to the teams’ endeavours.
Robotics Competition
After a competitive and inspiring day of coding and robot-building, the winning team was made up of Sam and Jiayue, whose robot performed with precision and consistency across all tasks.
Runners-up were Scott and Isaac, whose innovative design and approach earned them high praise from the judges.
“We’re incredibly proud of all the students who took part,” said Steve Wilson, Trustee of Code Club Isle of Man.
“This competition was about more than robots—it was about learning, confidence, and showing young people that they have the potential to build real things, solve real problems, and have fun doing it.”
Major Milestone
The event marked a major milestone in the island’s digital education journey, creating a platform for young people to explore STEM in a supportive and accessible environment.
Teams were supported by adult coaches and volunteer mentors from the local tech communities, making this a truly grassroots celebration of creativity and innovation.
With the success of the inaugural competition, Code Club is already looking ahead to the 2026 WRO.
Plans are underway to support local teams in competing internationally, travelling to the UK and potentially even Puerto Rico for the final, offering Isle of Man students the opportunity to represent the island on a global stage.
