A petition calling on the government to maintain the current cancer screening system has hit 2,500 signatures in just over two days.
Manx Breast Cancer Support Group’s petition said it is “sad to see our government intent on downgrading the service”.
Under the Mandate to Manx Care, screenings would reduce from every two years to every three years, a proposal which has drawn criticism from politicians, cancer charities and residents.
The petition says that change will “impact on a patient’s chances of survival when diagnosed with Breast Cancer”.
The charity has joined Breast Cancer Now Volunteering in Isle of Man in asking residents concerned about the proposal to contact their MHKs.
