A tourist guide says that the Department of Infrastructure (DoI) needs to take a look at itself over the shoddy appearance around the island’s main gateway.
Nigel Sperring who runs a tour business out of the sea terminal, has highlighted the poor appearance of the area around the building.
Speaking to Manx.News, Mr Sperring showed us the the broken windows, flaking paint and many meters of rust plaguing the area surrounding the main coach and car park.
He went on to say that the DoI “sit in their offices overlooking all this” and he “can’t believe nobody has bothered to have the area tidied up”.
If our window to the Isle of Man is, excuse the pun, but no window, no paint and rust, to a beautiful cruise ship that is out there, [in the bay] then we really do need to start knuckling down… because that is unsatisfactory. This is first impressions and first impressions always count.

It was two years ago that local historian Charles Guard had made a video about the shoddy state of the Island and much of the frustration was centered around Douglas.
It would seem that although some of the areas highlighted by Mr Guard have received attention, many are still neglected and in some cases are getting worse.
The Sea Terminal was also featured in Mr Guard’s video which can be watched below.
