The Groudle Glen Railway says it is dousing the trackside as part of efforts to prevent fires.
With hope temperatures and a lack of recent rain drying out the countryside, the island’s steam railways present a risk for wildfires.
While Groudle has seen very few incidents in recent years, land around the Douglas to Port Erin Steam Railway saw over 30 incidents in 2022, with a large number being attributed to the steam trains.
The GGR said: “With the current hot weather we’ve been taking precautions when using our steam locomotives.
“As well as a fire train on standby, we have been dousing the side of the tracks with water ahead of steam services.”
The volunteer operated line that goes uphill to the sea is currently open on Sundays, with Wednesday evening trains due to start in June.
