Rob Callister MHK has formally announced he will stand for re-election in this year’s General Election
The Onchan MHK said it had been a “privilege” to serve the constituency and the wider Manx community for the past ten years.
Mr Callister has held several roles during his time in Tynwald, including Minister for Health and Social Care, Chair of Manx Utilities and Chair of the Planning Committee.
More recently, as Chair of the Public Service Commission, he led the introduction of the government’s updated Whistleblowing Policy.
He also served as political member for Tourism and Motorsport during the post-pandemic recovery and as Children’s Champion, chairing a select committee on neurodiversity in education.
Mr Callister said: “At constituency level, my focus has always been clear: putting Onchan residents first.
“Over the past 14 years, both locally and nationally, I have supported hundreds of residents on issues ranging from housing, health and planning to infrastructure and wider community concerns.
“While it has not always been possible to deliver every outcome sought, it has never been for a lack of effort, determination, or willingness to challenge decisions on residents’ behalf.”
Mr Callister said he looked forward to engaging directly with constituents and setting out a “clear and credible vision for the next five years.”
Garbiella Corkish has previously announced her intention to stand in Onchan.
