Commonwealth Games – Glasgow 2026
Caroline Garrett and Paula Whitehead were beaten 2–0 by Australia in their Women’s Pairs sectional match, but the Isle of Man duo said they were encouraged by how strongly they responded after a difficult start.
Australia moved quickly in the first set, forcing Garrett and Whitehead to chase the game early. Whitehead said once you fall behind “it’s more pressure all round,” but felt they settled well and “got with it in the second” despite the calibre of opposition.
Garrett echoed the assessment, noting that facing Australia is “no mean feat.” Looking ahead to their next fixture, she expects another demanding test. “It’s going to be a tough match… different climate, different circumstances,” she said, adding that they’ll approach it with the same determination to “do our best.”
The pair play Northern Ireland this evening in Section A, Round 4, Match 2
