Lieutenant Governor Opens Rosie’s Interns Scheme

Manx Wildlife Trust has launched its inaugural Rosie’s Interns scheme, welcoming five early‑career conservationists at a ceremony opened by the Lieutenant Governor.

The fully hosted programme places interns across MWT’s conservation, marine and engagement teams.

Interest in the programme significantly exceeded expectations, with over 100 applications received for the five internship places.

Following a highly competitive selection process, five outstanding interns were appointed, each bringing their own skills, perspectives and enthusiasm for conservation.

They will support ecological surveys, habitat restoration, marine monitoring, education and community outreach while receiving structured training and professional development.

His Excellency said the initiative “reflects both the generosity of its donor and the vision of Manx Wildlife Trust”, adding that it will create “a lasting legacy for nature in the Isle of Man and far beyond”.

MWT CEO Graham Makepeace‑Warne said the response “demonstrates the appetite and need for talented young people to build careers in conservation”, adding that the island “proves that small places can have a big impact”.

The interns will contribute to projects across land, sea and community initiatives as part of MWT’s wider mission to build a nature‑rich Isle of Man.
